Fresh off his award for Best Novelty Song — Just Plain Folks Music Award Brent gave us a few minutes for an update.
Doc: Tell us about your background and what led you to write in the style you do (influences etc)?
BB: I’ve written songs most of my life, but I’ve found my biggest success comes from writing what I know about and where I live. That’s the beach, bars and the people who frequent both.
Doc: What is your most memorable performance (we know this’ll be good)?
BB: It came in a dream one night. I was naked before a crowd of thousands and nobody noticed! DAMN!
Doc: Which of your songs is your favorite?
BB: My songs are like my children. I don’t really have a favorite, BUT I guess “Livin’ The Life,” “Snowbird Season” and “Beach In My Backyard” are my top three. I’m also proud of my song, “Build Them A House” which is a tribute to al the people who do good for Habitat for Humanity.
Doc: Any upcoming projects or appearances?
BB: The Gretna Heritage Festival in Gretna, LA, The National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, AL and of course, the big daddy of them all, Meeting of the Minds (MOTM) in Key West. It doesn’t get any better than that for us Trop Rockers!
Doc: Any philosophic/spiritual advice for Lower Alabamans?
BB: Just do unto others and you know the rest! That works pretty good!
