Doc’s Diatribe: Bonner vs. Gounares – Why Does It Matter? Game Theory.

Posted on 31 May 2010

The conundrum for all House districts is that by voting out someone who "brings home the pork" we are hurting our area in the short run. That is a major faultline in our democracy. Think "chicken", "prisoner's dilemma", "Nash equilibrium" (of A Beautiful Mind's John Nash). Continue Reading

Doc’s Diatribe: McBryde – OK that’s enough…

Posted on 30 May 2010

When former Mobile radio D.J. Shane McBryde wrote his article about his escapades with Steve Nodine we posted it after much debate because – even though we had concerns about his credibility – it was sent to us and the last thing we wanted to do was “hush things up” as we have criticized other media for doing. Eddie Curran: “No to Erwin, Yes to Rich”

Posted on 28 May 2010

Let's count the reasons. 1. I saw Rich in action in a trial and found her to be intense, prepared, all the things you would want in a prosecutor, and she (and a partner) won. 2. Mark Erwin advertises himself as a "Judge," and dons the robes in his campaign pictures and literature. He is, lets be clear, a very part-time municipal judge in Saraland. Continue Reading

Mod Mobilian Profile: Orlando Bethel (R) Baldwin County Sheriff

I will execute GOD’S orders by firing, without intimidation, every corrupt deputy sheriff who refuses to obey the law (the U. S. Constitution and the Alabama Constitution-the rights of the people); I will arrest lawyers who commit acts of perjury and forgery by falsely stating the facts to win their cases; Yes. each cell and prisoner will have a copy of the King James Bible and the constitution; I will hire a constitutional attorney to review court ‘orders’ from judges to ascertain if each order abides by the law BEFORE enforcing or executing the ‘order’.
