Friends of Steve Nodine, Part II

Posted on 29 June 2010 by Valso

Previously, we have written about our concerns about business owners publicly supporting Steve Nodine and the “Friends of Steve Nodine” website.

Yes, he is innocent until proven guilty. That is for a court of law to decide.

But, looking at the facts and common sense, anyone who would willing give Nodine their hard-earned money seriously lacks judgement in our view.

Frankly, we would not patronize any business whose owners or management support Nodine.  Not just because of the murder charge, or allegations of physical abuse against women, but the adultery (and alleged drug use) by a public official alone would be enough in our view. But that’s just us – everyone is entitled to their opinion (note ModBlog = OPINION).

Apparently, though, some of his previous “friends” are reluctant to give up the perks and prestige of being associated with a local big-wig and are willing to overlook injustice to avoid doing so – and that is a shame.

Given the available evidence, we will continue to criticize the “Friends of Steve Nodine“ and anyone who supports Nodine monetarily or otherwise.

We linked to a podcast in which a well-respected local reporter said that a “local men’s clothier” (no names mentioned) was rumored to be supporting his defense – as we have linked to other Nodine reports. Any inferences are the readers’ own. We had one “local men’s clothier” message us to say that he was not “involved with the website”.  We don’t think all of the local men’s clothiers have to declare their opinions (and we are just linking to another report) - but we will post any business owner’s public opposition to Nodine and his actions if they feel the need.

The point is – people please think carefully before donating to the Nodine cause.

  1. Cherry Simpson Says:

The presumption of innocence is a courtroom rule – not a real world mandate. We can make our own judgments on the people we meet and the information we receive. We’d be fools not to. We all have to care about being fair in the courtroom. But erring on the side of caution in public I think is the better option.

I wouldn’t contribute to Nodine’s defense just as I would never recommend any of my friends date him (or OJ Simpson.)
