Mod Mobilian spoke with Morris Minor’s Joey Waits.
MM: Joey – what’s new with Morris Minor?
JW: Well, the new record we are working on probably has our biggest focus right now. There are two singles we’ve released on Itunes, Amazon, Napster, and a few other sites….those would be “Life Is So Strange” and “Ides of March“.
They are on the new record which is basically a 6 song ep we’ve been working on for about 6 months. We have the luxury of having our own studio so we tend to take our time and Greg (Nobles) does all the engineering.
The only things we have left are to get the last 4 songs mastered and get it pressed, so we’re hoping to at least have the whole thing up on Itunes in the next month with a physical cd and hopefully a vinyl pressing of it shortly after. After that we’re gonna start recording again and try and put stuff out pretty quick….maybe just release singles. We’re also gonna remix and master a couple of the older records that never really got a proper release and put them out too.
MM: And what’s next?
JW: So, we’re just trying to get our stuff into the ears of as many people as possible.
The music scene here is so much better than it was 3 years ago when we basically quit doing Morris Minor for awhile, so we’re just pretty stoked about the fact that people here are excited about local, original music.
We’ve been doing a lot of local shows and a few out of town gigs here and there as our varying schedules permit. We’re gonna try and do SXSW next time around extend our touring reach a little. Upcoming we’re doing the 92zew 2nd Tuesday at the Bluegill on July 13th & the Coastline Chronicles cd release party on the 30th…our song “I Undress” in on that. You can keep up with what we’re doing at http://www.reverbnation.com/morrisminor.
MM: Thanks Joey – please download those tunes now and give them a listen – we just did. Itunes, Amazon, Napster.
