Mod Mobilian interviews AfterSchock on his new CD:

MM: How did you get started in music?

I started rapping to reverse what I was hearing on the radio.. I was a unit leader @ camp s.m.i.l.e. and somewhat of a mentor to a lot of teenagers. I noticed that their taste in music was pretty harsh and violent…I pulled out some old poetry that hit them pretty hard…

My lil brother has Down Syndrome, and when he was 15 he was mimicking the rap music on the radio, that was it! I told him I would make positive music with no cussing so he could listen!…that’s been my driving force………

MM: How is this CD different from your previous work?

This cd is 90 days worth of raw emotion from my home studio. I lost Everything I owned due to several situations… I called it the BEGINNING of the DEEP END because I’m known as the “deep end” and aquatics is the theme…. I had been living couch to couch since last summer… finally I found a spot to hook up my music and record…all i had was my microphone, computer, pen and pad….my other SOLO albums were 40 and 60 day projects……….

MM: What’s next for you?

What’s next? It’s tough to say. I am planning a southeast AFTERSCHOCK tour, SubjecTmAtTerS tour, playing shows with MTR….we’ll just have to see how it all pans out…..
