This is what we posted on April 23:

We witnessed firsthand the grief of Kyser Miree’s parents when they learned their son had died  - and in all our years we have never seen anything as tragic.

Twenty-three year old Miree was found shot in the head in the front on his home on Macy Pl. in Midtown. He was pronounced brain dead at USA Medical Center.

Anyone who is a parent can only just begin to imagine this. Of course our sympathies go out to his family.

We can’t help but say that we hope that whomever is responsible is found and made to suffer. If this was a random act of violence then we hope the community demands Mobile’s justice system is reformed to adequately punish criminals before this happens to another set of parents.

We are very happy that arrests have been made in the case.

If the suspects are found guilty they deserve to die. 

Seeing it firsthand we have no reservations about saying it bluntly.  We are not being sensationalistic – we mean it.

Imagine having your son or daughter taken away.

It needs to be said – not only for justice’s sake but also because Mobile cannot continue to survive with random homicides.

This doesn’t only go for Kyser Miree’s killers, but also those of:

Dangelo Williams: 19-years-old, shot in Downtown Mobile in Febuary:

Zoa White: killed in her home

Jason Jackson: killed in front of his family during a home invasion this month (no picture)

We will do our best not to forget about these cases.

(The Crime Map on the Mobile County Sheriff’s Website is from 2006 – it looks like the community has lost interest in monitoring crime.)

And Angel Downs: 45-years-old shot in the head. (Suspect under house arrest – if convicted also deserves to die.  High-profile, but no different from the other murderers. We can’t expect only the unknown criminals to die).
