Mod Vowel gets off the soap box and on the rock box.

Posted on 27 July 2010 by modvowel

Mod Vowel has been on a bit of a high horse lately. And no one likes a snotty columnist who won’t even tell you who they are. So let’s get back to what brought us together in the first place. Local Music!

Coastline Chronicles is finally here!

Mod Vowel has only been looking forward to this since forever. Forever being that time that it was announced. It has been long understood on this site that Mod Vowel is a huge fan of Mobile’s local music scene and feels it could rival some of those other southern cities that get way more exposure (Nashville, Atlanta, Austin). Let’s hope all Mod Mobilians come out in full force to support this fantastic three day event at the Alabama Music Box. And if this is your first time hearing of it, Mod Vowel will give you a quick rundown.

Let us start with ticket info. Mod Vowel suggests that you go ahead and get the three day pass. Tickets will be $7 a night, or $15 for the whole three days if you buy your tickets ahead of time! Preorder tickets are available here: http://www.alabamamusicbox.net/spotlight.html

Ticket money is being used to fund the production of a compilation cd (Coastline Chronicles) that features the very best in Mobile’s local music scene.

The event kicks off Thursday at the Alabama Music Box and is going to be one for the record books, kids. You don’t want to miss it. Just about every band that has ever been featured on this site is going to play and you know we Mod Mobilians have superb taste. And say you can’t make it one night, no worries. In true Mod Mobilian Tech Snob fashion we will be streaming the entire event online. And who knows, maybe you will even see who Mod Vowel really is! Just kidding. You will never know.

And now, for Mod Vowel’s favorite part, the line up!

El Cantador, Morris Minor, The Port Wine Stain, Greg Fells, Seduction Bomb, CCUSA and the Hush Hush Revolution, Mob Towne Revival, Swamp Wompus, Cockfight, Mandown, The Investments, Josh Bond, Hibachi Stranglers, and The Sunshine Factory!

And the kicker? Set change entertainment provided by Mobile’s leading authority in all things comical, Sir William Masters.

The fun meter is in overdrive, Mods.

While Mod Vowel has your attention, something fantastic is going down at the Blind Mule in September. The Blind Mule has been known as a great home to local artists and musicians and on August 1st, you will get all the details on this event. All Mod Vowel will tell you is that if you are a band that falls between Biloxi, Mississippi and Pensacola, Florida – You will want to stay on top of the situation. Trust us. Mod Vowel would never steer you in the wrong direction.

That is all for this week. Next week, Mod Vowel hopes to be out of the rock and roll induced haze to let you know about all the decadence and debauchery that will be the Coastline Chronicles Three Day event.
