This month, Time Life Music will release the 16-disc “Hank Williams Complete Mother’s Best Recordings … Plus,” featuring 72 mini shows the country star did as advertising spots for Mother’s Best flour in 1951.
The shows, recorded at Nashville’s WSM radio, were discovered when the station moved and almost put the acetate discs in the garbage. After a court battle, the Williams siblings were awarded ownership.
The “Mother’s Best Recordings … Plus!” set doesn’t come cheap. It cost $199 and is available online at www.hankwilliamsmothersbest.com and at the Earnest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville.
