Arguably the most talked about underground performance of Wakarusa 2013 was an electronic duo from Lawrence, Kan. named The Floozies. By performing with both live drums and electric guitar on top of prerecorded loops and produced tracks, the pair left quite an impression during their late night set that preceded another electronic musician, Govinda.
“I’m playing my heart out for you guys right now,” producer and guitarist Matt Hill told the crowd during the set.
The band is building their reputation on the festival circuit, having recently performed at Purple Hatters Ball 2014. During that festival, the Mod Crew was able to sit down with The Floozies and discuss their approach to music. Below is the first part of that interview, with exclusive video of the band live at Purple Hatters.
The Floozies will be performing twice during this festival. The band will make the leap to the larger Revival Tent stage Saturday morning at 2:30 a.m. The duo will also close out Wakarusa 2014 at the Satellite Stage on Sunday night from 12:30 until 2 a.m. Considering the buzz generated by the band last year, both performances should garner great turnouts and local support.
Music fans curious about Wakarusa still have time to make a last minute road trip, as the main stages are just opening today. Mulberry Mountain is located in Ozark, Ark., and is approximately the same distance from the Gulf Coast as Bonnaroo. Those in attendance will experience some unforgettable performances.
