How did you find your way into the world of Hayride?
A little over four years ago, I attended a series of acting workshops in several states across the southeast to learn about becoming an actor. I had never auditioned for film or television before, so I had no clue where to start. Actor Richard Tyson was one of the guest speakers, and I got know him there and thought it would be really fun to work with him one day. Other guest speakers at the workshop recommended websites that regularly post acting jobs and auditions as a way for new actors to find work without an agent. A few months later, I saw a casting call posted online about a horror feature shooting in Alabama starring Richard Tyson! I jumped at the chance to audition, and ultimately won the lead role of Amanda. It was an incredible opportunity for a new actor, and I am so grateful to director Terron Parsons for giving me a chance!
If you could work with any actor, living or dead, who would you like to share the screen with?
This is a really tough question, since there are so many incredible actors out there. I have always looked up to performers who take risks and aren’t afraid to play gritty, intense characters. At the same time, I think comedy is tougher to pull off than drama, so I really admire funny people as well. If I had to choose one male and one female, I would say Johnny Depp and Jessica Lange. I imagine working with them would be so much fun, and I could learn a lot from both of them.
What is your absolute favorite scene in the Hayride films?
Do I have to choose? I don’t want to give too much away of Hayride 2, since it has not been released yet, but there are some really intense scenes in the film and the footage looks amazing! We had so much fun shooting the first film, and a lot of the scenes remind me of our shooting days there and the great time we were having running around the woods and making new friends. Of course, I can’t help but love any scene with Richard, since he is just so much fun to watch. But Pitchfork really steals the show every time he is on screen. It’s hard to top the huge, scary guy with a chainsaw! Ask me again after Hayride 2 is released, and we can talk about my true favorite. It is worth the wait, trust me!
What else can we look forward to seeing you in in the future?
I am fortunate to be a part of several great films gearing up for release soon. I play Cassie Daniels in the upcoming horror feature Freshwater, starring Zoe Bell (Oblivion, Gamer, Whip It). The film is about a group of friends who have a horrifying experience while on a vacation at a lake house. I am also really excited about the comedy feature Nigel and Oscar vs. Sasquatch from director Drew Hall. The film stars Saturday Night Live alumni Tim Meadows (Mean Girls, The Ladies Man, Grown Ups) and Paul Brittain. It’s a hilarious story about two brothers on a hunt to find Sasquatch, and I play Lana who works for their ultimate rival Claus (Tim Meadows).
Will you be attending the After Hours Hayride 2 screening?
I have been asked to speak and perform at a film festival in Mississippi the same weekend as After Hours, so I am still working out the details of my schedule. If the timing works out, I would love to be there! I am so excited that the Fairhope Film Festival has included Hayride 2 in their lineup.
