Preview: Voodoo 2016
Text by Tim Borland
Voodoo Music + Arts Experience is always hotly anticipated by many regional Gulf Coast music fans. Occurring in New Orleans’ own City Park, the event draws both locals and fans from around the country. For a Halloween weekend music festival occurring October 28-30, beating a setting as seeped with spooky history as Louisiana is a challenge.
This year’s event features an impressive full lineup. In addition to headliners Tool, Arcade Fire, and The Weeknd, attendees can look forward to Band of Horses, Cage the Elephant, Rebellion, Gramatik, STS9, Puscifer, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, Beats Antique, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and much more.
NOLA’s French Quarter overflows with excellent talent, and many of those musicians will make appearances at the smaller stages of the event. Sometimes exploring the smaller acts and discovering new musicians is one of the best ways to experience a festival. Tickets are currently a mere $140 plus fees for a three day general admission wristband.
The Mod Crew has covered Voodoo fest extensively in the past, below are a few links featuring exclusive photos from previous iterations of Voodoo:
Mobilians or Gulf Coast residents who have never attended Voodoo before are truly missing out. This three day city music festival is barely over two hours away, making the weekend one of the closest music experiences for area residents to attend. The Mod Crew will return again to document this year’s ‘experience.’ For more information, explore the link below.
