2010 GCEH Jazz Fest Artist: Bay City Brass Band

Posted on 07 August 2010 by Valso

Mobile’s Bay City Brass Band will be playing at 7:30pm in Mobile’s Bienville Square (Rain location 351 Water St.) for the Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival.

Bay City Brass Band was formed in 1997 by tuba player and band leader, Marcus Johnson. Marcus, at the time was also a member of one of Mobile’s other brass bands, the Olympia Brass Band. Once formed, the Bay City Brass Band began to work to bring the Mobile Mardi Gras industry to the forefront, and their special music to it’s citizens, full time. They now, routinely, play at semi- pro games, parties, parades, conventions and even weddings where the band provides music to dance by. When major events come to the Mobile area, the Bay City Brass Band has assumed the role of musical representatives to the Mardi Gras industry and brings the traditions to the events with great results! “People come to the birthplace of Mardi Gras and want to experience the sounds and sights that we provide.”
