This special midsummer program features vocalist Angie Powers, guitarist Jim Armstrong, saxophonist/keyboardist Sandy Spivey, bassist Joe “Jo Jo” Morris, Jr. and drummer Jimmy Roebuck.
The developer is Nancy Hanna and rumor has it a WKRG celebrity is involved in the program.

The steamy proceedings begin at 6:30 p.m., per usual, at Gulf City Lodge (601 State St.). Entrance is $10, $7 for MOJO members. A light jambalaya dinner is included and a cash bar is available.

From Kevin Lee: “North Dakota-born Peggy Lee rose to fame as a vocalist, eventually fronting Benny Goodman’s band and eventually bridged the worlds of jazz and pop. However, she’s best known for setting the world afire with her sultry rendition of “Fever” and pulling in three Grammy awards and an Academy Award nomination among a list of others.”

Rebecca Barry does MoJo at Gulf City Lodge Tonight Monday 4/26

Posted on 26 April 2010 by Valso

Don’t forget Monday night’s Jazz Appreciation Month Jambalaya at Gulf City Lodge (601 State St.) at 6:30 p.m. If you have not been to the Gulf City Lodge – go tonight.
In addition to being one of the Bay Area’s most formidable saxophonists, Rebecca Barry has been busy the last few years teaching students at Faulkner State Community College.

This big band is bringing their full and versatile sound downtown at the end of the month to help MOJO celebrate in style. Barry promises the show will not only entertain, but will be ideal for getting feet moving on the dance floor.

Entrance is $10, $7 for MOJO members with student and military rates available and includes a light jambalaya dinner. This is the month when we encourage attendees to bring some of their favorite springtime dish to share with others. A cash bar will be available.
