Mod Vowel: Hey Priest. Let’s have a chit chat.

Posted on 04 September 2010 by modvowel

Hey Priest.

First of all, Mod Vowel wants to commend you on the excellent job you do around town. Your piece on the side of the Blind Mule is fantastic. Mod Vowel just wants to offer a bit of caution.

Priest. You tagged a cop car. C’mon man!  Until that act, you were kind of nudging the sleeping giant. But now, you’ve gone and kicked him in the face. And if Mod Vowel has learned anything from many run ins with the law man, they will not forget this. And not be happy until they get some kind of justice.

Mod Vowel noticed you aren’t on facebook anymore. That may be a good thing. Even if it was an impostor. Mod Vowel offers this piece of friendly advice, lay low for a little bit. Pop back up after some time has passed. Grab everyone’s attention again. For example, look what you inspired on facebook :

    • Josh Holland funny. last i checked banksy isnt the first to come up with the idea of stencil graff… matter of fact banksy has ripped off plenty of people if you want to look at it that way. nothing is original anymore.
      Wednesday at 20:56 · · ·
    • The Blind Mule Restaurant & Bar It will stay up. The irony is if, at this point, anybody paints over it THAT is a criminal act.
      Wednesday at 22:44 · ·
    • Lala McSweetbritches Well Josh, to have a fair argument… where’s your proof that Banksy is not original? Whom else has created graffiti such as his before his time?
      Wednesday at 22:46 · · ·
    • john fekner & ernest pignon as far back as the 60s to start. admittedly their work was not as blatantly political and stylistically there are differences as well.

    • The Blind Mule Restaurant & Bar Folks get inspired by their heroes. The most sincerest form of flattery is imitation. If banksy pulls from an artist that’s been inactive for a while then kudos to him. The goal is to initiate discussion. Banksy and priest keep you talking. They have reached their goal in my opinion .

    • You have a lovely argument, and I am not arguing you’re wrong or he is inadequate. Maybe saying he was a d-bag was a bit of an over-judgement on my part. Kudos to him for doing what he does-it obviously takes time and effort and skill. But See more

    • The Blind Mule Restaurant & Bar The same ideas may have been in different markets. Mobile hasn’t had anyone until priest. Though we appreciate the lively discussion you’ve had with josh holland, a premiere artist in mobile.

    • Lala McSweetbritches I do know some folks here that are very good with stencils and if they took the risk/effort to post their artwork throughout the city, I am sure they would be adored as well. I am glad he has gotten his name out there-that’s quite an accomplishment.

See? No need to tag cop cars. You have a nice size army behind you already. Until next time, tag safely.
